| 32235 | 2002-01-21 20:42:00 | [1] I HAVE A PROBLEM OF SOME ICONS/FOLDERS TURNING PURPLISH. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE MONITOR AND HAVE TRIED ANOTHER MONITOR BUT WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE ICONS/FOLDERS THAT ARE PURPLISH ARE IE5, OUTLOOK, MY DOCUMENTS, RECYCLE BIN, NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD, DIAL UP NETWORK. THERE USED TO BE OTHERS ON DESK TOP BUT HAS CHANGED BY ITSELF. [2] WHY DOES WIN 98 HAVE SHUTDOWN PROBLEMS. IT SHUTDOWNS OK SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T. HAVE GOT THE LATEST VERSION OF WIN 98 WITH PATCHES BUT STILL HAVE PROBLEMS. THANKS....SP |

Press enter then select Advanced/disable fast shutdown, click OK & exit. I know it's a contradiction to disable fast shutdown when shutdown is slow/hangs, but trust me, it works. Another possible cause of slow/hanging shutdown is a corrupted shutdown sound file. For instructions on how to fix this, go to Start/Help and enter 'Shutdown', click Display and enter the Shutdown Wizard. Follow your nose. PS: A gentle hint, it is generally considered very bad form to type forum or email messages all in caps. It is the equivalent of shouting. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
