32201 2002-01-21 09:19:00 this is probably a stupid question, but i bought an parallel i/o card because i wanted to install another printer port, can i just install this new one or can you only have one in at a time. Guest (0)

Yes you can have more than one parallel port. One of my boxes has three parallel and four serial ports, no problems.

The only issue would probably be availability of spare IRQs.

32203 2002-01-22 04:06:00 Probably not even a problem with interrupts if the card is a PCI one.

The I/O address for LPT1 these days is usually 378; LPT2 278, and a third one might be 3BC (which is part of the address space on the IBM monochome adapter card -- the mono and printer interfaces were on one card for the PC and XT).
