They are often way cheaper than the stores and have a bigger range too. Here are some from my list to look at (no particular order and I have only purchased from Ascent myself): www.ascent.co.nz www.vivid-computers.co.nz/ www.dragonpc.co.nz/ www.tastech.co.nz/ www.uptech.co.nz/multimedia4.htm Other people might also be able to recommend good sites. A good CD-Writer review site is here: www.cdrlabs.com Click on the Reviews tab at the top of the page. |

| 32174 | 2002-01-21 12:21:00 | Hi there, I had an HP external CD writer a while back never had a problem with it. Cant remember what the model was but that is irrelevant as that model wont be available now. Just wanted to comment though as I had one and it ran fine. |

| 32175 | 2002-01-22 00:15:00 | it might actually be possiable to have the best of both worlds. If you buy an internal cd writer and then buy external drive case and then mount the cd writer in that. It will be external using USB but will give you the option to later mount it internally. I don't know about preformance but i do know that external drives are slow than internal ones. you said that u had found a drive for $500, the external case costs about $100 and depending on what brand drive you buy can range from $300(dick smiths). | Guest (0) | ||
