| 32292 | 2002-01-22 10:37:00 | Just finished Year13 (7th Form) my self (B Bursary, yay). In ChCh I saw that there is a new computing college (www.ict.school.nz), and its free. Just a one year course. I figure that unless you absolutely know exactly what aspect of the IT industry you want to be involved in. Rather than commit ones self to a 3 year degree, better off to only do a general one year course where you will cover a bit of everything. Then it gives an idea of what area to follow up on. Just my thoughts, JM |

Once you've covered the first year you can then concentrate the options towards Programming, Networking etc. A good start in Programming, Cold Fusion, ASP, Novell, Windows Servers, Hardware.... Mind you, being a second time around student there are times when I feel my needs aren't being met. Those days when I'd like instructions on how to do something specific rather than the research to work it out myself. Another choice would be a uni course. Can you major in PE with a minor in IT (or the other way) and then do a teaching diploma? That's if you want to teach. Try your local Brownie pack and see if they want a leader for the year. Good teaching experience! (Please note I keep coming back to work experience BEFORE committing yourself!) |
