2002-01-22 09:53:00 | Yesterday I downloaded AdsOff V2.0, (from PC World of course), to try to speed up my inet connection. It works like a charm - however - now when I shut down I am presented with : 'VSMON has caused an error in kernel32.dll. VSMON will now close' The error message occurs every time I close down. If I click on the 'close' button the computer closes with no further fuss. Anyone got any ideas to fix this problem ? System is Athlon 1000mhz, 512 mbs RAM and op sys is ME.

2002-01-22 19:54:00 | Same here more or less. Tried Adsoff yesterday. On shut down with ATX system, it was getting stuck on Windows is closing down screen. A few enter key strokes completed shut down. This was continuing to happen despite a registry cleanup. Adsoff replaced a system file which SafeInstall backed up. Unfortunately I absentmindedly deleted it so the possible source of the problem was lost. After completely removing Adsoff, system has returned to normal.

2002-01-22 19:57:00 | Greetings Jen C, Think it is abvious now that ZA and AdsOff just don't get on together. AdsOff is such a good proggie that I am reluctant to dump it, so will prob put up with clicking the close button on the error message. Just had a look at ZA, but there does not seem to be any to reconfigure it to leave adsoff alone. Oh well, maybe someone more knowledgable than I will figure it out.

2002-01-22 20:36:00 | There is available a better programme called AdSubtract. A free version is available and also a pro version that stops popups as well. Don't know if it works with ZA - I don't use it - but I found it better than Addsoff. adsubtract.com Bye

2002-01-22 22:07:00 | I have another solution altogether. I found a new firewall which is free and it contains an awesome adblocker. It even kills the ads inside morpheus which a lot of the ad blockers I have tried couldn't do. It passed the security test at symantec the same as zonealarm and is actually targetting the same customer base. Its called Outpost. I got it from the lurk here website. They also have a good trojan scanner etc there. Well worth the look. www.lurkhere.com/ | Guest (0) | |
