1289014 2012-07-17 01:04:00 Hi Team

I need to repack the lithium battery pack for my Toshiba Libretto and I've been searching for '18650' format 3.7v Li-Ion on the web, however Google has not been my friend in the search for a local supplier. I can get them from the US ok, but I would rather buy local.

They have to be tabbed because space in the battery casing is very cramped, so I can't use wire-ended versions, and it is not advisable to solder to the un-tabbed types.

Does anybody know a local battery supplier? Anywhere in NZ would be fine.

Cheers

www.mrpositive.co.nz

Quality Panasonic Batteries with nearly three times the capacity of the originals for $49.90 incl shipping.

Just what I needed, but I'm left wondering why that result did not appear in my searches today or previously.

Thanks Agent-24 and the others who responded with suggestions.

1289021 2012-07-17 12:08:00 Hopefully the shop is good, I've never bought from or even heard of "Mr Positive" before.

I searched for something along the lines of "18650 lithium cells" in Google and told it to display only results from NZ. Was on the first page.

1289022 2012-07-17 23:51:00 I searched for something along the lines of "18650 lithium cells" in Google and told it to display only results from NZ. Was on the first page. I used essentially the same search terms including 'Sites from NZ" but it didn't appear. I did this morning though when I tried again.

Had a phone call while writing this, it was a cheerful Kiwi chap calling to check my address for courier (I only gave my PO Box on the assumption they would be posted) and telling me the batteries should be here today. With customer service like that, I think I'll be using them again.

1289023 2012-07-20 05:44:00 Hmm.........Batteries didn't arrive till today, and were left at the door by PBT Couriers without so much as a push on the doorbell! The batteries are OK, but 1mm over the spec diameter, which you wouldn't think would matter, but Toshiba pruned the Libretto battery enclosure down to the last micrometre so some surgery will be required to get them in. They should work out OK in the end though, and if they last as long as the previous set I'll be beyond caring by the time they expire.

Now to find a replacement for the CMOS battery..........That is so small it would blow away on a breezy day.
