1288928 2012-07-16 11:41:00 I'm guessing it's nearing the end of its lifetime? xyz823 (13649)
1288929 2012-07-16 23:56:00 I would think so, or tit is badly in need of a defrag. Nick G (16709)
1288930 2012-07-17 00:30:00 A surface scan would be in order... might take an age though. Paul.Cov (425)
1288931 2012-07-17 02:39:00 That or a faulty cable, or loose connection etc.

Take the drive out of the USB case and connect it directly inside a machine. Then you'll know what's going on.

1288932 2012-07-17 03:23:00 What's the SMART status? Use this http://www.hdtune.com/ to run some diagnostics. The Error Guy (14052)
1288933 2012-07-17 04:13:00 If it was MB/s it'd be about right, but even a slow USB flash drive usually writes at around 5MB/s so that's insanely slow, it's not a USB 1.0 port is it? dugimodo (138)

You generally can't get SMART data across a USB connection, have to take the drive out and connect it internally.
