| 1288468 | 2012-07-14 12:53:00 | I would like to remove the password for loggin in to Win 7 machine. This password was created by me earlier but now, I wish to remove it. This is the only user account created. What I did: Went to Condtrol Panel -> User Accounts - Remove your password -> Keyed in my password in box -> Clicked Remove Password. Logged Off, my account name appears, click it (no password) away it goes, all good. But, ... when I restarted the computer, Win 7 loads and stops at the log in screen with my account name and the password box waiting for my password, hit enter (or click the ->) error : The user name of password is incorrect. I still have to key in my old password in order to log in. I am puzzled! Why can't I remove the password permanently? Is there other way(s) (other than the above) to remove it? |

| 1288471 | 2012-07-14 13:26:00 | Just tried your above suggestion by creating another account and deleting the first one which works OK. Just to experiment, I created another account (2 accounts all in) put in a password in one of the accounts, then removed it, and it works OK as expected. But curious to know why I couldn't remove the password when there's only one account created? |

| 1288476 | 2012-07-15 21:42:00 | I'm wanting to get rid of the previous owners name under Users but will still need the folders under it.Can I make a new user under my name ,copy the folders into my name and delete the old user name? | Neil McC (178) | ||
| 1288477 | 2012-07-15 21:50:00 | Depends on what you need from the old user's files. If all you need is the music, documents etc then you just need to copy them. If you want stuff buried in the Appdata folders, then that is another matter entirely. You have to be much more specific before an answer can be given. |
