1265003 2012-03-14 21:34:00 A boutique grocer is looking for a $2 million business partner in a bid to bottle its own milk .

There is a suggestion that milk could be sold for $1 a litre . There are Nosh stores in Auckland and Hamilton .

Federated Farmers responded to Nosh's initial $1-for-one-litre move by saying it hoped it would trigger a "price war" .

"If dairies can sell milk cheaper and a small supermarket like Nosh can sell it as a loss leader, surely Foodstuffs and Progressive can do the same?" Federated Farmers Dairy chairman Willy Leferink said .

The supermarkets charge a bit more than that for milk. $2.75 for 2 litres is not a bad price. It pays to shop around but people will unfortunately continue to pay a higher price for milk at a supermarket because it is more convenient to buy milk along with their other groceries.

1265006 2012-03-14 23:31:00 I try to buy our milk from the local BP petrol station as they always have 2x 2Ltr for $6.80 so $3.40 for 2Ltrs.
THe cheapest I've seen it at any supermarket here is $3.80 for 2LTrs and it may have even gone up to $4 recently.
