2012-03-14 08:50:00 | Loving this new digital library that is now available through my local library, just wish a) Nelson library would get some better eBooks and b) I could remember my logon details for Tasman library to see what they have in the eBook range

2012-03-14 19:48:00 | Is that the overdrive based ones? Wellington Library has had it for a while and now Lower Hutt is just getting it. But I've had a look through and found the ebook collection in both to be really lacking. Also - 2 week loan period!!! I mean WTF - you can get a physical book out for 5 weeks, what's up with that. | psycik (12851) | |
2012-03-14 19:56:00 | You can always download a *cough* *couch* hack *cough* * cough* to get around the DRM 2 week loan period issue :) | Zippity (58) | |
2012-03-14 21:25:00 | yes it is overdrive, you can change the default lending period to 21 days when you go to check them out. being a member of 2 different libraries gives me a bit better choice but te choice isn't great yet | gary67 (56) | |
2012-03-14 22:25:00 | Meanwhile, back in Waimakariri we are still in the dark ages as far as our library is concerned... However, it sounds as though there is not much to look forward to, if the range of ebooks in libraries is so poor... | John H (8) | |

2012-03-14 22:47:00 | One hopes so. They are doing some sort of system upgrade this month, and my wife has been told they will then be able to email to tell a subscriber that one of their reserves is available, instead of phoning us during dinner time... ChCh had the email thing sorted over 10 years ago... Then there is the matter of the closed storage, but let's not go there cos that would hijack the thread. | John H (8) | |
2012-03-14 22:55:00 | Kindle is yet to allow NZ based libraries loan their books :( | Zippity (58) | |
2012-03-14 23:00:00 | Which is one of the reasons I didn't even look at a Kindle, and chose a Sony PRS-T1 instead. How to lose sales? Just place restrictions on what the owner can use the product for... So short-sighted.
