1265101 2012-03-24 23:45:00 Problem however is the Give Way sign is so far away from the intersection that any strangers in the position of the Blue circled car will have no idea there is a Give Way acting in their favour.

I thought that was why Give-Way and Stop signs are two distinctly different shapes. If the Blue driver can't recognise a large and unobscured trapezoid on a white pole at that distance they need a seeing-eye dog, not a drivers' licence. The photo flattens the perspective somewhat, it would be much easier to see when on the road.

Been out on the road today, no sign of mayhem. All I met was one driver so slow that I was able to go around the block and go past his exit before he arrived at the stop sign.

Cheers

1265102 2012-03-25 03:54:00 It's about time they updated the road rule in NZ regarding following distance.

Isn't it the 2 meter rule here? Because that seems to be the rule that quite a few brain-dead idiots adhere to.

Oh...and the one about speeding along the parking verge to overtake on the left in a 50k zone (seriously).

And trying to overtake on the left when turning right at a roundabout with a single lane exit and entrance.

One particular idiot in a green sedan, rego ADT580, managed to do all of the above earlier today.

I'd sure like to know which brand of cornflakes he buys - presumably they were giving away free licences in the packets.

1265103 2012-03-25 04:02:00 Yep, how do you know when they are tailgating? Is it when their headlights are buried behind your own car?

The road down our place, the left turning has the right of way right. Last night they gave them a give way sign  so right turning still have the way.

All these have been [informally] adopted by the residents of West Auckland as their very own Road Code, to be adhered to and followed religiously.

Rumour has it Mayor Harvey pondered running for central government on this platform and introducing them nationally ... :D

1265105 2012-03-25 05:41:00 I bet the news media today was pissed off that there was no mayhem at intersections with dead cars all around. They were all banking on it being a fail they way they were hyping it up to be. paulw (1826)

I do notice that in all the pictures that it is always the green car that has the right of way and the red car always gives way. Who would want to own a red car in these circumstances. Green for go and red for stop. :D

Thank god I have a blue car.
