1289137 2012-07-18 10:42:00 The only problem you may have is with addons that haven't been upgraded. I have had very few problems with that lately.

Probably because despite the major version number being incremented every 5 minutes, there aren't really any major changes to break addons.

Way to go to confuse people! There was a reason version numbering worked the way it did. Now with Chrome and Firefox the version numbers are meaningless.

1289138 2012-07-18 10:53:00 Maybe I'll compromise, I have every PCW DvD for years back (in fact I have PCW CDs #1, 4, 6, 7, & 8 as well) and IIRC just about all of the more recent DvD examples contain FF updates, so I could go back several versions without causing myself any grief, and that might stop the nagging.

Point is, everything works fine except for the update nagging and possible some minor security issues, but it may cost me a lot of work time to fart around sorting problems if I make an unnecessary change.

What I really want to know is whether or not an update will require extensive manual reconfiguration, and that seems a little unclear as yet.

1289139 2012-07-18 18:47:00 Does the new/updated FF play nice with Nod?

1289140 2012-07-18 20:32:00 W7 64. I always update FF. Addons rarely give me a problem and then they are either fixed in a matter of days or I find another to do the job or scrub it.
I also take almost every Windows update and have never had a problem doing so.
There is absolutely no logical reason for M$,FF or any other company to stuff up their own products and every incentive for them to fix things fast if they do go wrong. It would be commercial suicide not to do so.

I should have mentioned that I use XP-Pro and can't upgrade past that because of my legacy business apps. I still run a comp on W2K for print-screen from DOS, and a W95 Libretto mini-notebook for full access to DOS instrument programs. I am using instruments in my business that cost in excess of $30,000 20 years ago when that was real money, but they are DOS only. I've tried Dos-Box, but they don't like simulated anything, you feed them genuine DOS or nothing, and they are not W2K compliant either, so they are trapped in a 1999 time-warp.
