1288447 2012-07-19 00:04:00 Not a fan of MSI either, have seen too high a failure rate................I'd go with Gigabyte or ASUS. pctek (84)
1288448 2012-07-20 02:08:00 What resolution in the monitor, I wouldnt go HD7970, despite what fanATIc say, AMD may make good hardware, but their software support is still 2nd place to NV by a long shot, and unless you are using 3 monitors the 3GB of memory will not give you any benefit and in actual fact at 1080, the NV GTX680 of 670 is a better choice for both noise levels and power consumption. 1288449 2012-07-20 02:37:00 If you go the nvidia route buy a 670, for the extra $100-$200 the 680 isn't worth it. Personally i'd just get the 7950 and overclock it to the level of a 7970. The nVidia drivers are probably more stable but I wouldn't say the ati ones are so bad they are unusable, the catalyst drivers are very stable at the moment and if an unstable version of drivers do come out you can always roll back to the previous set of drivers until they fix up the stability issues. Personally I think drivers should never stop you from buying a video card. icow (15313)
1288450 2012-07-20 04:03:00 Its is if you have to wait for a fix for your favourite game...BF3, only just recd its fix, over 6 mths!...Bite frost 2 engine is popular this year and for next, NV has 50% performance improvement on AMD on this engine....
CF & Eyefinity is STILL balked....over 6mths...GCN doesnt play nicely with DX9 games UNLESS AMD codes optimisations into the driver!!?.
