When the properties box appears one of the options should be find target. Click on this and then use your 'up one level' icon to follow the folder back. (thats the symbol of a folder with a bent arrow in your toolbar up the top). Please give us as much details as possible on it and then we will have a better idea on what is causing the problem and where it is. | Guest (0) | ||

PS More info would help, name of shortcuts, user rights, why you have to so badly get rid of them. Could just (maybe) change the rights for the shortcuts so other users can't see them (a long shot, I'll admit). |

| 32967 | 2002-01-28 00:16:00 | Here is some more information..... I lived in the US for 1 year so I used America Online 7.0. Now that I'm back in NZ I deleted AOL from my system. But there still was a shortcut that remained in my desktop. I double clicked it to see wat it was and it was looking for C:/programfiles/americaonline When i right click on it the only options i get are *open *explore *create shortcut. I think someone said there was no 'other' in my computer but there actually is. When u go into my computer it is divided in to 4 parts *files stored on this computer *Hard drive disks *Devices with removable storage. *other. I hope this information will help. Thank u all very much for trying to help! |

And really, it's only a little problem, an icon on the disktop which does nothing. There seems to have been some overreacting going on, though. The idjits are always with us. What might work: use the Explorer to browse the Windows/Desktop directory. You should be able to find the entry for that shortcut there, select it, and delete it. If that doesn't work, post again ... |
