32820 2002-01-25 19:32:00 I use Paradox and Microsoft access as a main data base for my work. In paradox I can use ctrl+D to duplicate previou record field entry to current record in same field. Bu in Access 2000 to perform same task Ihave to do to use ctrl+'. As the later is on right hand side next to 'Enter' key it slows me down in entering the data. Is there any way I can change to some combination of keys or a single key on left hand side of the key bord? I would greatly appreciate help in this area.
Thanking you

32821 2002-01-25 20:51:00 I'm afraid I don't have MS Access 2000 installed at the moment, but in most Office 2000 software you can Right-Click on the toolbars, and select 'Customize' from the menu that appears (should be at the bottom of the list).

In the new dialogue box that comes up, click on 'Keyboard' (at the bottom of the box near the 'Close' button), find the command you want to set a new hotkey combination for, set what you want the new hotkey to be, and click assign. It will tell you if that combination is already assigned to something, and if you want to override the preset one just click assign and it'll override the original one.

Hope this helps,

Mike.

32822 2002-01-25 21:10:00 Yes, you can create new keystroke shortcut to whatever you want.

In Access, click on Help, choose Contents and Index and type in shortcut keys. You should see underneath an option for creating - click on that then on Display. Choose the topic for assign an action... etc and Display, then follow the instructions.

Good luck!

PS Remember, if you choose something to suit yourself, chances are that it is already assigned to something else, and changing it will cancel the original shortcut, which will no longer work, of course.
