2005-11-14 03:56:00 | Hi . Have just read this query and the comments . Tried the Start/Run and typed in ipconfig and something flashed up on screen but didn`t stay on long enough to read . Any suggestions . I`m running Windows 98SE That problem is from some sorta timer . . but I actually got around it by going to the START>>PROGRAMS>>ACCESSORIES>>C:\PROMPT and then typing 'IPCONFIG' there . . . it keeps it on the screen as long as you want . I had the "too-quick-to-read problem too . In 98SE, I am not sure where the C:\PROMPT resides . Since I got SP-2 in XP-P, I've had that quick splash problem . Must be something messed up .

Why not just use Belarc Advisor..it'll tell you that and a whole lot more too! When you use Belarc, you'll be on 127.0.0.1-------which is your internal system and not dependant on some on-line scanner seeing your router or DSL modem. |

2005-11-14 10:28:00 | Problem with that surferjoe is I do that and I only get my LAN details, not my real-world IP Address. No point in my trying to host a game using that IP with a friend down the road coz it wont work. thats where things like funkinip.com and whatismyip.com come in handy!

2005-11-25 18:02:00 | Try using www.displaymyip.co.uk (http://www.displaymyip.co.uk) ;) It will display you outside world IP address.

2005-11-27 11:23:00 | You are wanting to find your public (internet) ip address? As people have suggested whatismyip.com will give you this info. Whether this matches to your computer's actual ip address depends on the way your connection is configured. If you have DSL then this is probably your modem's ip address, unless you have an internal DSL modem then it should be your computer's actual ip. Remember if someone wants to access you from the outside world it is the public address that is important anyway whether this is your computer's actual address or your modem's (gateway) address. If this is the end goal then remember your modem will have to be configured to handle incoming traffic. If your goal is to find your local ip address the ipconfig will give you this info. If you have a local network it is this address that other computers within your network need. (ipconfig will also work if your computer is connected to the internet directly such as with an internal dsl modem or through dial-up).
