33294 2002-01-28 12:41:00 I am currently having problems with 2 games, Star Trek Armarda 1 & 2. For some reason these two games both seem to crash, and come back to the desktop in the middle of a game. It just seems to happen at random. This was happening while I was running Windows 98, but I have formatted my computer since then and am now running Win XP Pro. Still the same things happen. It's even worse when running STA 2, as sometimes it crashes and doesn't even go to the Desktop, it just gives me this blue screen that says windows has shut down to protect my computer and is dumping memory. In the end I have to turn off my comp completely. I have tried running both games under various compatibility modes and they make the game even worse. I have tried the STA1 patch and the same things happen, and as yet there is no STA 2 patch. I think the problem may lie with my 64MB Geforce 2 MX 400 video card, as some of the errors mention that and suggest getting a driver update. I have already tried this, and still the same crashes happen. I don't run any programs while I am playing these games, and have tried everything I can think of.
Has anybody had any experiences like me? My computer specs are:
Pentium 4 1.6Ghz, 64MB Geforce 2 MX 400 Vid card, 512 MB DDR RAM, 40 GB HD, Win XP PRO.

33295 2002-01-28 22:19:00 Exactly what version videocard drivers did you have before and what version have you got now?

If you were using the 'detonator' reference drivers from NVidia then there have been numerous bug reports for all versions from 21.83 upwards. The bulk of those affected by bugs in these driver versions have managed to fix them by installing version 21.81 detonator drivers.

33296 2002-01-28 22:36:00 First of all you might get better luck at the Support Site for ST Armada. They usually have a community support forum for you to post this question.

Secondly, I've recently read a similar case such as yours but for another game. It turned out it was the DirectX version which needed updating. I'm not sure if STA is using DirectX but your problem is likely to be that or the video driver.
