This was few days ago that I recorded. now i got an email from telstra- Dear Ryan ******* (my sirname that i wont say here), We took leadership from a recent report that GameSpy sent to us informing that you are using a pirated version of their main component. The evidence is clear of it, and the proof is held under police circumstances. If this pirating continues further, you will legally get pressed for charges and will illegebly get suspended from out network. The Police have been informed of this theft, and any further crime committed will be recorded and action will be taken further. Any troubles, please talk to the AISC for your complaint/argument. 33251	2002-01-28 11:15:00	Hmm, what intrigues me is they initiate the dialogue before the version request is processed... either they already knew the response they would get, or they didnt care. Does GameSpy use registered chatnames? If so Id find out who ColdStone is, and request a copy of whatever he 'reported'. I would guess that either the complaint is legit, in which case Id drop it, or its not, and GameSpy knows nothing about it and a complaint was sent straight to your ISP by some *******. I cant believe GameSpy would take any charge at face value without verifying it themselves, easy enough for them to do. Of course, if it IS a pirated copy then its pretty daft to use it on GameSpy. 33252	2002-01-30 07:56:00	Hey there tweak'e, I dunno about the Gamespy section, but the Telstra response is assuredly not kosher. It's semi-literate at best and the pseudo legalese is virtually unintelligible. My guess is that it's a hoax, based loosely on some real online interactivity/chat. So, whoever got the supposed Telstra threat can rest easy. It's obviously faked. And I never heard of a case where piracy was claimed and backed up by irrefutable evidence yet the police didn't prosecute. They don't give you multiple chances...that's not the way the police operate. It's more likely to be handled as a civilian matter with the BSA or some other industry body pushing the suit anyhow. Makes for a good story all the same. :-)	Guest (0)
