| 33388 | 2002-01-29 12:51:00 | Hi bob, RE: your specs above 32MB GeForce 2 MX200 >>Ditch that<<they are not a very good card, a MX400 is the minumum you want on a P4 and that will still be a bottleneck. The other important thing to consider is the brands of components 'especially the motherboard!!' |

| 33390 | 2002-01-30 06:34:00 | Hi Bob Here are a few links for you to browse. In most cases the systems are categorized, so you should get to the 'gaming' rigs without too much trouble. Three grand buys more than it used to - even taking the rapid pace of change into account. These are straight out of my favourites - I'm going through the same process as you, but I haven't bought my system yet, so I can't endorse any of these companies. (Tip: Cut and paste this list into MS-Word so the links become hyperlinks) http://www.geniuscomputers.mirrorz.com/ http://www.compulink.co.nz www.computerdirect.co.nz www.ap.dell.com http://www.digicom.co.nz http://www.dtconline.co.nz http://www.edencomputer.co.nz http://www.internetcity.net.nz www.pbtech.co.nz http://www.tls.co.nz/ www.samcor.co.nz |

| 33393 | 2002-01-30 09:14:00 | yes an amd would be cheaper and faster ;-) also onboard sound sucks. live value minimum. the asus mobo are really nice. nice vid card :) things to watch however...what psu and case. nothing worse than an unstable system due to cheap heatsink, case and psu. i'd be inclined to get a cheaper slower cd writer and get a decent sound card. |
