33516	2002-01-30 05:50:00	I'm using Outlook 2000 on a Win 2000 Pro machine. A friend sent me an email with an attachment putty.exe. When I open the message it says up the top 'Outlook blocked access to potentially unsafe attachments: Putty.exe' I know it's safe so I want to open it but can't see how. 33517	2002-01-30 08:08:00	OK you realise you are going to have to assume responsibility for disabling a security function? Don't come back crying in this forum if you get infected by a virus. On Outlook, click on Tools, Options. Then click on the Security tab Remove the tick from 'Do not allow attachment to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus' YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. 33519	2002-01-30 22:18:00	I follow you all the way to 'On Outlook, click on Tools, Options. Then click on the Security tab' I cannot see 'Do not allow attachment to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus' anywhere. There are 3 sections to that secrity tab, Secure email, secure content and digital id's. I cannot see what you describe anywhere. I am not concerned about disabling security in Outlook. I am far more competent at security than Outlook. Thanks for the suggestion.	Guest (0)
33520	2002-01-30 22:56:00	Okay I think I've sorted it out. Outlook 2000 with SR-1 does not allow attachments that could be potentially unsafe. Unless you're running an exchange server, the only thing you can do about it is uninstall office completely and reinstall it and don't install SR-1. I think I'm going to have to move to another email client.	Guest (0)

33522	2002-01-31 02:17:00	That might be it. I'm running Outlook2000 without SR1. Good to know you understand security. Was worried there for a while. Anyway tis good to put the warning anyway incase others like tweak_e read it and think 'Ah Ha! I'll try that and see what'll happen..'	Guest (0)
