33428 2002-01-29 12:15:00 When I reboot my computer, I encountered the following error: 'Invalid Boot.ini file. Booting from C:\Winnt\ '

OS: Win2K

This problem happens after I uninstalled Go!zilla.

How can I correct the problem?

Cheers

33429 2002-01-29 22:05:00 Just before I uninstalled Go!zilla, I ran Ad-Aware 5.62 and removed some spy ware from my system.

33430 2002-01-30 01:44:00 Hi. Sounds like gozilla is somehow responsible. Try reinstall it, leave the spyware alone, then unistall it. Check again for spyware again after it's uninstalled.

Hope this helps.

33431 2002-01-30 05:27:00 I found a file called Boot.ini.backup in the C:\Winnt\pss\ folder and copied to the root of my boot disk. I then renamed it to 'boot.ini'.

When I reboot, the 'Invalid boot.ini file' error has gone and everything seems to be OK except the three short cut icons, namely, show desktop,Internet Explorer and Outlook Express icons are missing from the task bar.

How do I restore those missing short cut icons?

Cheers

33432 2002-04-17 20:21:00 I had a similar problem on Win XP. I came across this forum while looking for a fix. I finally figured out how to fix it (for XP). I posted it at the following link. Perhaps the info. might help in solving this problem for 2000 too.

I came across this forum when I started getting an invalid boot.ini message for my windows xp pro. I fixed this problem for XP. A description of how I fixed this is located here. Maybe it will work for Win 2000 too, since the OS's are quite similar. www.computing.net
Hope this helps
