| 33699 | 2002-01-31 07:14:00 | Okay, I own up! I put a shortcut to Press F1 on my desktop. Yeah Yeah, I know, get a life etc, but just now I have a much bigger and far more important problem! My direct-access Press F1 window opens minimised and I have to maximise it before I can read the posts and satisfy my craving. Unfortunately, being a web page the shortcut does not contain the usual choices for opening maximised etc. Can anybody tell me how to either fix this, or create a new shortcut that doesn't make me do an extra mouse click and wait an agonisingly slow 500mS before I can read the latest posts. Oh yes, and my Google shortcut has the same problem. Yours in addiction Billy 8-{) |

| 33701 | 2002-01-31 07:29:00 | Hi Billy-T The solution is the same as that for the problem of new windows opening too small when you click on hyperlinks: 1. Have only one Internet Explorer open. No other windows of any type. 2. Make sure it's NOT maximised. 3. Right mouse click on a blank part of the button bar. 4. Select 'Tile Windows Horizontally'. 5. Hold down Ctrl and click the IE icon on the top left. 6. Still holding Ctrl, click on close. Now every IE window (even from shortcuts) will open using all your screen real estate, even though they are not 'maximized'. Never maximize them if you want to keep this arrangement. |

(grease grease) I'd love you to take a look at my post a few down from this regarding 'Win 98 Shutdown probs' as it involves a monitor issue and you're the monitor guru around here. Thanks!! Regarding your shortcut issue, I've right-dragged the address of the Press F1 homepage onto my desktop and chosen Create Shortcut Here. Then I dragged the IE window as far as I could on all corners so that it looked maximised before closing the window. Now, when I double-click on my PF1 shortcut the window opens just how I left it. For some funny reason shortcuts like this don't seem to produce maximised windows, but mine is near enough. |

I'll fix my problem momentarily (as they say in the good ol' US of A), but before that, sorry I missed your post Susan, I'll take a look now. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
