| 33638 | 2002-01-30 23:52:00 | Hi, if you read my other posting below you will know I have been havibg problems. Well now I have some more. The computer for no reason at all shuts down. No Rhyme or reason, no error messages. It just turns itself off. I installed ME and when installation finished there were 2 empty folders on the desktop & 2 empty folders in Control Panel??? When I open My Pictures (in my documents I get a screed of gobbldy gook) When I open the Windows Folder nothing is displayed and I get script errors something to do with 'gfolder' %path' %dir. Also when I press the start button on the taskbar it sticks in and freezes. I can still get around using mouse & keyboard but it's a real pain. I installed W98 and it went fine. Formatted the disk and reinstalled ME, same problem. I can live with 98 and toss ME but I can't live with the comp. shutting itself down randomly. Ive changed ram, PSU, New motherboard, New Hard drive. Could it be the Chip and if so how could I test it. Duron 650. Can anyone please help before this thing goes through a window! Thanks |

| 33641 | 2002-01-31 03:07:00 | As you can see by my posting I have already changed the PSU, Motherboard is new (Shuttle AK12 Ver3.0) New ram (twice)Hard drive is new. Already tried another Hard drive, same thing happens. What I really need to know is can the Chip have an intermittent fault and if so how can I test it. Thanks |
