33644 2002-01-30 19:01:00 Email is usually sent at a message width of around 70 characters, while full text editors (MS Word) use a longer width, such as 100-120 characters.

When copying email to MS Word, the copied email text is too narrow. Is there an easy way to make it wider? Simply resetting MS Word's width tabs does not do it.

One trick that I have found to work is by using Pegasus Mail: the [CTRL + j feature], but this is not always convenient and sometimes it runs paragraphs together.

There must be a better way...?

33645 2002-01-30 23:53:00 Steve, you can replace the paragraph marks (which are presumably causing the problem) in Word using the replace feature in Edit; the special characters to represent paragraph markers are '^p' (no quotes). Word's auto wrap should complete the job. However using these blindly will also destroy the 'real' paragraph structure so you might want to replace double occurrences with something significant first and then change them back later. But I have to say, there must be an better way...? :) Guest (0)
33646 2002-01-31 00:01:00 Steve, oops, you might want to check for manual line breaks ('^l') rather than paragraph, although this could depend on where the mail came from. Sorry :). Most of the special characters are available from the Special button in the Edit/Replace box, depending on your Word version. It should be possible to record and store a macro to do a tidy-up job on most mails. Guest (0)
