33937	2002-02-01 22:09:00	Need help again. I am using an HP Laserjet 6, connected to a Win ME system with MS Office XP. I am trying to do a reasonably large number of copies of a four page document created in Word 2002. Trouble is, most of the pages are printed with a line of Wingdings look-alike charaters somethere on the page. Usually on the same part of the page, with the rest of the page printed fine. I have tried closing down the system and restarting, I have deleted and re-installed the printer drivers, I have cursed emphatically, but still 80% of the pages are unusable. Can anyone offer another solution. I tried ringing the HP helpline, but of course they're closed. Thanks	Guest (0)

33939	2002-02-01 23:14:00	RT I've experienced a similar problem with an HP6L, Win98 original and Office 2000.I don't know what caused it either! I too was trying to output a large print run and I got rid of the main problem by unplugging the printer for 5 mins then starting afresh, but I also had to do the print in shorter runs. Afterwards I was left with an occasional 'Illegal Operation' message on Word documents. Clicking 'Ignore' two or three (or more) times will let the print run go through normally. Perhaps there is an HP guru out there who knows the answers. Cheers Billy 8-{)	Guest (0)
33940	2002-02-01 23:19:00	Make sure you have the specific driver for ME, not the one that came with the printer. Here is a link to all of the HP6 drivers, make sure you know the model, there are half a dozen different HP6's. There is also problem solving for each model. productfinder.support.hp.com One other thing possibly worth looking at, is the type of parallel port in your bios, ecp/epp etc. Try finding which one it should be.
