33899 2002-02-01 07:31:00 PIII running W98SE, Office, IE5 and various other applics and games.

At time system is slow and unreliable. Booting taking too long ? Most recent boot had the blue screen of death:

'Teminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the settings of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI or remove recently installed VxD's. there are currently 5 SPs allocated. Press any key to continue.'
Anykey repeats the message. Anykey second time continues to Windows reboot. I think this problem has occured infrequently over the past year. What are VxD's. What to do ?

33900 2002-02-01 07:39:00 I notice tweak'e replied to setting MinSP previously. Also you can get tools that can do this.

VxD are virtual device drivers. Sometimes incompatibility between those drivers can cause problems.

33901 2002-02-01 10:19:00 Thanks Kame. A search of Press F1 gave me all the previous correspondence on this. Should have searched first but I usually assume that my problems are unique !! Have increased MinSPs as recommended. Guest (0)
