33834 2002-02-01 03:26:00 I have just brought a CD writer 16x/12x/40x and it came with Nero 5.5 burning software. I am very new to burning CDs. Most of the CDs burn ok but there a quite a few that read ok but when it goes to write it comes up with the mesage 'caching of files failed'. Is this what is ment by buffer underun?. I have tried the Ahead help but with no luck. How can I fix this problem? Guest (0)
33835 2002-02-01 04:26:00 Nero tells you what a buffer underun is and since I think your copying to hard drive then to cd you shouldn't experience buffer underuns.

The caching of files are the ones that get put in an area easier for it to be burnt to the CD without trouble.

I've increased my cache size to not include files less than 512Kb you should do the same considering you have a fast writer.

33838 2002-02-01 09:03:00 One thing I have learned by burning CD's whatever system you have: AVOID DOING ANYTHING ELSE OR HAVE ANY OTHER RESIDENT PROGRAMS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND WHILST A CD IS IN BURNING PROCESS.
Try again by close all open application, also the nasty resident ones you find on your bottom right taskbar, next the clock!
Good burning.

33839 2002-02-01 23:10:00 Suggest you print out, and then have a look at, the 3 section manuals that are on the Nero installation compact disk.

These are very comprehensive and well worth the hundred sheets of paper you will need to use.

Then you will have the answers to all the Nero burner useage questions and can offer tips to F1 readers.

Anyway it helped me!
