34041	2002-02-02 11:55:00	Is Win XP faster than Win 98?? In terms of performance in games and applications? And can someone please tell me the advantages of running NTFS. Also, I m currently running Win98 SE, if a configure a dual boot and install XP in another partiton, will I still be able to run the games and apps which I have already installed on Win 98?? 34043	2002-02-02 12:21:00	I've never put it to the test. But it's acceptable I don't know if you'll notice a speed improvement or not. Just hope your computer specs are good else you may notice a speed drop. Advantage of running NTFS is 'it's virtually indestructible and provides ultra-high security for files, on-the-fly files and folder compression and encryption, and a wealth of other features.' Now if you believe that some of it that seems reasonable to go on. Disadvantages of running NTFS is why can't I see content on my hard drives when booting into dos from a floppy disk? There maybe more disadvantages but I haven't encountered them. Maybe less speed than Fat32 but I wanted security.	Guest (0)
34044	2002-02-02 21:59:00	Well I?ve found that NTFS is not as stable for games and it is slower. It?s not much slower but it is. I?ve since gone back to XP with fat32 and all is ok on the gaming front now. Just watch out for things like Nortons as if it?s not Nortons 2002 it will have issues with XP rather annoying really. XP on a hole seems more stable on a hole and reasonably fast if you turn all the bells and whistles off. You can set it for speed or looks thank god as I find the looks setting a little bit flower for me and are use to the standard windows look.	Guest (0)
34045	2002-02-03 04:53:00	Tony, If you notice that NTFS is much slower than Fat32 then you should check what size your hard disk clusers are. When converting an existing Fat32 drive to NTFS the system will sometimes create 512 byte clusters instead of the default 4Kb. This causes a huge overhead and will slow the system. To avoid this, format the drive and do a fresh install of XP.	Guest (0)
