I am running win98se on an Acer Extensa 501dx laptop with mmx and 64mbs ram.
My problem is that I cannot run a Dos session through windows using either 'Run' command 'Pif' or clicking on the command.com file in explorer. When I try I keep getting a 'Winoldap' error message. If I restart the computer in dos mode it will work but then I have all sorts of trouble getting back to windows. If I type 'exit' or 'win' the starting win98 screen is displayed and the system freezes, then if I warm boot it I'm presented with the Win98 start menu and from there nothing seems to work except the command promt option.( All the other options cause the system to halt). Eventually a series of cold boots will get me into windows wishing I had never tried that dos thing and vowing that I won't . (but ofcourse I do and the fun begins allover again....lol:0) |
