34504 2002-02-05 12:59:00 Howdy ya all.

When I go Start: Run and type in msconfig, I get a message saying 'Unable to synchronise the enviroment variables in the Windows Registry with the enviroment variables in the legacy files AUTOEXEC.BAT and/or CONFIG.SYS.'

When I click OK it goes to the System Configuration Utility anyway. There doesn't seem to be any problems. I remember having this message come up a while ago, but it went away by itself.(?)

Cleaning registry with jv16 and regclean doesn't help.

Running WinMe. Any help or interpretations gratefully accepted.

Cheers.

34505 2002-02-06 00:25:00 Hi Graeme,

I was able to find an article in the microsoft knowledge base (Q264380) which describes your error message.

According to the article, the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files on some NEC computers contain entries that cannot be properly imported to the environment variables portion of the registry.

There is no workaround other that to press ok. It does not appear to cause any problems.

Try removing these statements to see if it resolves your problem.
