As for the rest such as upgrades in IE, directx, media player, personal choice. If you are playing some of the later games you might want directx upgrades. Mediaplayer, you would probably be better sticking with the 1 that came with 98se, you could take the 128bit encryption if it is there, a upgrade to IE6 might be good but that comes on the PCWorld CD disk anyway so that saves you a download, others might have suggestions as well |

| 34500 | 2002-02-05 19:25:00 | It is too early in the morning.....I saw SR1 and then over looked it. SR1 is for Office isn't it. Personal choice I have not downloaded the updates for office, if it works fine, leave it alone. Know a couple of people that had no end of trouble they had after applying a update package to office 2000 |

Because the SR-1 download is huge, and you'll probably have to reinstall it sometime (if you reload your system), I recommend taking the 'fully downloadable' copy. This means you download an executable and apply it off-line. Instructions are here: support.microsoft.com |

| 34502 | 2002-02-06 01:26:00 | Ive not found SR2 to be buggy. It does however lock down outlook so tight that you can't even save EXE files from attachments. | Guest (0) | ||
| 34503 | 2002-02-06 10:33:00 | Many thanks for the replies - Believe it or not {Murphys Law :-)} I have just found a article on the Office 2000 SP2 Pack and a fix to install all but the Outlook SR1 Email Security patch and its bugs. Complete article is in the Australian PC Authority April 2001 issue. 'Pack of peril' by Simon Jones in the Q&A section (try them at www.pcauthority.com.au) if your interested. Dez |
