34460 2002-02-05 09:33:00 Here's one I havn't struck before.
Colleague got the W32.magistr.... virus. Machine running ME. Plugged in a network card and shared Cdrive, then scanned with NAV from a NTworkstation. Found the infection, most of which were cleaned. 6 files in the _restore\.. directory could not be deleted or repaired. Thought OK, go to ME machine find _Restore folder and delete manually. Whaddauknow - no _Restore directory off Cdrive.
Any suggestions

34461 2002-02-05 09:37:00 Most probably a hidden directory because it contains WinME's restore files. Just unhide it. Guest (0)
34462 2002-02-05 12:39:00 Hi Don

Kame's right. Its a hidden. What you can do is disable restore, reboot, delete any leftovers (if there is any), reboot, renable system restore and reboot again. That will clear out all the restore history.

PS. Dont forget to manually create a restore point when its working OK again. Dont rely on your pc to do it.

Cheers.

34463 2002-02-05 22:38:00 Thanks KK and Graeme.. Sometimes I think Ive had too much aluminium! Tried your solution Graeme and most files gone, except the *.dat files in the \_restore folder. Wont let me delete those. -Or the log files. None of these were infected so wont worry at this stage.
Another question, I'm getting an error message concerning purposes.exe. Is purposes.exe a ME file or is it generated by the virus?
