34760 2002-02-07 05:15:00 This set of addresses always appear when I use Spider to delete my index.dat file even though I haven't visited their sites.

Are they 'phoning home' or is it just something to do with them being in the Channels in my Favorites? If that is the case then why aren't all my other Favorites in the index.dat file as well??

www.msnbc.com
ie4cdf.pointcast.net
channels.nz-travel.co.nz
channels.tab.co.nz
channels.xtra.co.nz
www.tv3.co.nz
www.tvnz.co.nz
channels.nzcity.co.nz
channels.nzherald.co.nz
channels.nbr.co.nz
www.iechannelguide.com

Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

34761 2002-02-07 08:01:00 They wouldn't be from adverts or links appearing on any of the pages that you usually visit would they. Guest (0)
34762 2002-02-07 08:23:00 I don't think so Gordon. The whole lot of them are all in the Channels folder in Favorites. Guest (0)
34763 2002-02-07 09:48:00 They all appear to be 'Channels' as listed on Win 98 Active desktop.
TV3
NBR
Herald
MSN...etc, they were all there from memory.
You should be able to just delete them and make sure Active desktop is turned off.
Think this is right, its been a while...good luck :-)

34764 2002-02-07 19:57:00 That would be correct Jim. I'm just puzzled as to why they turn up in the index.dat file, as though my computer has been sort of connecting to their sites behind my back while I'm online. Maybe it does in order to retrieve the icons or something?

Anyway, I'll make my own Favorites to the sites I want to keep bookmarked and delete the lot of them. Thanks for your info.
