| 34644 | 2002-02-06 11:43:00 | Hi Everyone, I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased a new Packard Bell computer, in the last year - as to what software discs came with your PB computer? I have a horrible feeling that I have some missing, although according to Packard Bell, its all pre-installed on the hard drive. But what happens if the harddrive does the proverbial LOL? Regards, ALAN :-) |

| 34645 | 2002-02-06 11:53:00 | Mine came with 2 recovery CDs and 1 floppy disk and is about just over a year old now. I think it's for restoring it back to what it was before. I don't know. Never used them just formatted the lot and reinstalled a clean Operating System on it and have had no trouble with it. |

But if you hard drive does do the proverbial, which you can almost guarantee will be a couple of months after the warranty runs out, You're going to be a nice person and take it back to the retailer to get it fixed at an astronomical price, and no doubt they'll come across other things that need replacing. I stand to be corrected, but my understanding of the situation is they have to supply CDs for all software thats preinstalled, either as a recovery disk that reloads everything you had when new, or a combination of recovery disk and original CDs covering things like graphics drivers, audio drivers etc. Cheers. |

The recovery disks basically have everything on them - drivers, software for cd writer, etc. He has had one grump about the computer and that is that he couldn't upgrade the graphics card in it because it had no AGP slot! |

The only stuff I got with my iConnect, was a copy of MS Works and the recovery floppy (which reformats Hard disc) Did you get CD copies of MS Windows , NAV, and out of interest, what model computer is it? Regards, ALAN :-) |
