1290162 2012-07-23 01:16:00 Why is my SD card always locked on my computer?
I cannot rename or delete files on it. I can, however, read and copy files from it.
SD is not protected physically and works fine on other computers.
This happens with a few of my SD cards. All of them have been formatted.
Some other SD cards do not present this problem.
Can someone help?

1290163 2012-07-23 02:15:00 Is the sd card on read only? Nick G (16709)
1290164 2012-07-23 03:59:00 What do you use them in besides the computer and what file system are they formatted in?
It's possible they are set to read only as Nick suggested, right click the drive in my computer, chose properties, and have a look.
If they are formatted NTFS it could be an ownership issue (if this is the case it will usually say you don't have permission) but you can overide that as long as you have admin rights.

1290168 2012-07-26 08:10:00 I use the cards for my digital camera. After taking pictures, I insert the card to the computer to rename the pictures.
When I right click the drive I cannot see anywhere if it's read-only or not. I can see this when I right-click a folder in the drive, but then I cannot change the setting because the card is protected.
I cannot format the card, because the disc is right protected.
This is happening on my computer only. When I take the card to another computer, I do not have this problem. What's more, after taking it from another computer back to my computer, the problem disappears - the card can be fully used again. Quite bizarre.
The switch on the card is set to unlocked.
The card is formatted FAT.

1290169 2012-07-26 09:46:00 Can you copy non camers files from your computer to a USB stick\SD card? PPp (9511)
1290170 2012-07-26 11:21:00 There is a registry setting that write protects removable media I saw somewhere when I had a USB drive get write protected on me, perhaps that's the problem. As PPp asked can you write to any removable media or is it all write protected? dugimodo (138)
1290171 2012-07-27 08:20:00 No, I cannot write or copy any type files to SD or delete from it . It's all write protected. I cannot create a file through right click/ New either. Hanys (16847)
