I think the key to the question is separatism, when we all become Kiwis things should improve. Not sure that tribalism is very useful. |

Please tell me which part of my comment displays an ignorance of history and shows it is racist? I have to admit that not coming from those parts, I dont know alot about the Ureweras. However isnt much of it a National Park which means it is preserved and maintained for ALL New Zealanders? At a guess there is also some forestry planted in the area, so that hardly makes the area of "little value" today does it. Forestry and Tourism are big earners in NZ. Why not just hand them back? Well thats the real question isnt it. Hand what and how much back to whom, who are the rightful owners of the land, and I guess thats where the Waitangi Tribunal and historians have a hard task and why things take so long to sort out. |

It wasn't my Government (I didn't vote for them - hell, I wasn't even born! My grandfather hadn't even been born at that time!!). Yes, it's my money (and yours) - Governments don't have any money other than what they either print or raise via taxes (from voters) - and it's TODAY'S money they are using. |
