1266447 2012-03-24 07:25:00 Not all the Maori tribes did either but it doesn't stop them making claims.

Appears you have to have had a treaty with the Government in advance to be able to ask for stolen land back. What a wonderful arrangement for the Government.

You are wrong there because some tribes that never signed the treaty have made claims and the Maori were always stealing someone else's land anyway.
There is land that was taken from my ancestors after one of the WW that I could claim on. How far do you think I would get with that.

1266449 2012-03-24 10:50:00 I know nothing will be achieved with discussion.

We are all atached to our positions.

What we need is a treaty.

Yay a treaty. What a good idea so that we can all live in peace together as a nation.

You don't need a treaty to know someone stole your land - in my view the Government needs to sort out the theft of Tuhoe land. Most people here justify the theft of the land in some way as we've seen in this thread, but those same people would react quite differently if the Crown stole their land.

Well it's been apart of the divide and conquer since the dawn of time. You get invaded you lose your land and of story. I don't think there are many countries where land has been given back to the conquered. The honkies in NZ seem to be the suckers for this stuff..

Ci, maori is a r s e about face as far as I'm concerned, doesn't matter how we translate it, it's still not what maori think it should be.

Tuhoe didn't sign the treaty, probably because they were stuck in the bush and were not as educated as the rest of Maori, just look at iti, shooting up the NZ flag is not very bright.

Lurking.

Ps. shame we don't follow the lead in this post and shoot-up the treaty and start over, lol.

lurks.
