1290716 2012-07-25 07:16:00 There may not be a problem at all, sometimes its suck it and see so to speak. The only time you "should" get the reconfigure is if you open the earlier version of Access, then the newer. it should affect the other programs ( word, excel etc).

I dont have Access 2010 as a stand alone program, only 2007.

"if" I get time tomorrow Ill install office 2007full then only access 2010 from the options in the full suite - worth a crack ;)

1290717 2012-07-25 07:27:00 My experience of this is with Access 2003 and 97 versions.

Yes, they can be installed together.

The trick is when you open your Access database the computer will default to trying to open it with the version of Access that was last used on the machine, which is problematic when trying to open a newer database with an older engine.

The trick is to have shortcuts to each of the various versions of Access. Open the appropriate copy of Access (without opening a database), and then you're fine to open (or just double click an icon) of the database you want to work on.

Whether or not that applies to the later versions I can't confirm, but the principle may be the same.
