One allied death too much because the japs started it their losses are not important. If the japs, germans, italians, romanians and hungarians want another go we the allies will give them another hiding. As much as an Anglophile I am I dont think mother England will help us out. C'mon pctek, I am glad they bombed Pearl Harbour, excuse the w t f "language", but they would have gone through Aus and NZ like a packet of salts. Mind you us 5 young brothers' would have been pretty good with our shanghais, many the bird we knocked out of the sky with them, so the nips would have probably got a sting or two. Very good rubber in those days too. The nukes saved more lives than one could imagine. I don't like wars any more than the rest, but if has to be it has to be. Having foreign troops here is a security risk, and makes NZ a target for USA's many enemies . As for saying that New Zealand could be invaded -- by whom? So who do you think we should look to for military support Mzee? We are a tiny nation which doesn't even have an airforce . We simply cannot defend ourselves . Britain? Once upon a time yes, not now . China? An admirable nation but a harsh rule of law . I don't think you'd enjoy that . India? Possibly . Russia? Mmm but their armed forces are in serious decline and socially they have deep corruption problems . Australia? Yes but they would require US affiliation . As for who would invade us? Indonesia . Anyway, the US troops are here to take posession of our land when we fall foul of downloading laws, and can no longer pay the penalties for having inadvertently downloaded a page with an advertisment embedded, which played a copyrighted tune which we had no right to listen to.
