2012-07-25 23:10:00 | Recently one of my home computer had been found with some PUP software which i thinks is a term used to describe unwanted programs such as Trojans, spyware and adware, along with other malware which may compromise your privacy. Now what i did to try and remove it was download malwarebytes and do a quick scan , full scan and their was another special scan which i don't really remember , i think it was something saying flash scan . Yes it detected over 175 (objects) which then give me an option to remove it fully . In totally all were cleared .Then i just thought to do another check , so i scanned my pc again with a full scan , quick scan and another special scan and the result was no malicious activity was detected . Then i noticed the pc performance is not still good , so i downloaded CC Cleaner , which then cleared out all those unwanted leftover files and registry . I then noticed , pc performance increased a little bit though still not good . I then checked for all those add-ons attached to internet explorer and chrome . None was detected . Further looking at it I thought to download EST NOD 32 . That then give me a result where an adware virus has infected a program called Yontoo . Now looking overall - i removed over 176 objects know as PUP software and cleared out unwanted files and registry . Though ESTNOD 32 detected an adware for which i don't know if it is a false alarm or even if it is a real one - HOW CAN I REMOVE IT ? Also i have researched about yon too , which relates to some web experience and that i find i can't delete it . Ohh and i also downloaded avast , and did a quick scan , full scan - no virus detected . What should i do ??????

And a scan with NOD. Uninstall Avast. You can turn system restore back on later | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
2012-07-25 23:21:00 | Hey Speedy , think so much for help . Now may i please know how disabling system restore and rescanning with malwarebytes will help . and yes will uninstall avast . Also does this sound a false alarm by nod 32 . | Nhashon (16466) | |

2012-07-26 03:07:00 | malwarebytes CC Cleaner EST NOD 32 . NOD32 is an excellent antivirus. Keep it and listen to it. Ccleaner isn't anti-malware, it just cleans out cookies and so on, not very well either. Malware Bytes is OK but I'd pair it with SPybot. 1 antivirus - but several antispywares, what one may miss the other can find.

2012-07-26 04:31:00 | PUP is potentially unwanted programs and doesn't necesarily refer to malware, it also flags up bloatware like toolbars etc. Most of what malwarebytes and the like remove is usually just cookies which aren't really much of a threat and shouldn't effect performance although it's good to clean them out. You can also go through the windows add remove programs list and uninstall any programs that are unwanted or not needed and that may help performance. Depending on how old the machine is the ultimate tune-up is to start again from scratch and reinstall everything, it can be a mission to make sure you get everything back the way it's wanted though and you have to be careful to keep any wanted files. I am considering it myself after a recent battle with what I think was a virus that I got rid of, because a couple of things have shown up since and I'm not completely sure all traces are gone.
