1266590 2012-03-24 01:38:00 I have a Panasonic KX-TG8323 cordless phone set, I believe the handsets are TGA-830AZ.

Recently I noticed that the display of one of the handsets was flickering or rather changing intensity slightly. Sometimes the effect is very noticeable, sometimes barely. Typically, the pattern is: up-down...up-down...up-down...up-down... (cycle is a little less than a second). If I pick up the handset and re-set it on it's cradle, the display is steady for a just over a minute, then the fluctuations resume.

- I've tried the handset in other base units/charging cradles (and other handsets in the 'faulty' handsets original cradle), and the problem follows the handset.
- I've cleaned the contacts on the handset.
- I've tried swapping the batteries from another unaffected handset.

Not sure what else to do. Just thought I'd ask here before returning the unit (gonna be a pain if I have to return the whole set, as the base unit is registered to all six of my handsets, three of which are from another set).

1266591 2012-03-24 01:57:00 Dammit, I just went through all six handsets, and noticed that another one is doing it too.

Both afflicted handsets are from the same set, and I just realised that that set is more than a year old and probably outside of warranty.

1266592 2012-03-24 02:09:00 If it is just over a year old, consumer guarantee act should help. Arnie (6624)
1266593 2012-03-24 02:55:00 It was 27/01/2011.

I've noticed a possible pattern to this issue. ...well it's a long shot actually, but:

The phones have an "LCD Dimming" setting in their display menu. This governs how the display behaves whilst the phones are idle in their cradles. 'On' means that the display is dimmed (as opposed to full brightness when you pick it up), and 'Off' means that the display backlight goes out altogether. Every phone has been set to 'On' except two, which have been on 'Off' until I changed them to 'On' a week ago. Those two phones are the ones with the fluctuating brightness.
