35353 2002-02-11 10:52:00 After updating Nero and InCD programmes on my PC the CD Rom driver refuses to load. I have a CD Rom and CD R/Rw and both are recognised, but of course can't be used without the drivers. I have uninstalled the Nero and InCD progs but this has made no difference.

System is a Compaq Deskpro with PII 350 processor, 20Gb HD and 192MB RAM and running Win2k. Hope someone can help to rescue me.

35354 2002-02-12 07:46:00 Have you tried the Add Remove Hardware, in control panel and let windows search for the hardware. Guest (0)
35355 2002-02-12 10:26:00 Thanks for response KO. Yes tried removing hardware from control panel, physically removing and replacing the drives, swearing at it, everything I could think of.

Finally thought of looking in the Microsoft knowledge base and that gave me the fix. It seems that the CD burning software can leave a rogue value in the Registry and it required editing the Registry key. Good old Microsoft - where would we be without them.
