| 35613 | 2002-02-14 03:20:00 | Hi people, As the subject mentioned I'm trying to setup a VPN between a 'win2k Professional' system and a 'win98' system. The win2k machine will be the host. I'm hoping that someone can send me links to docs which could help me out in setting this up as it is a bit 'lout of my league' for me. |

Basically under 98 you set up the VPN connection as a phoney dialup account. A problem you may have is that the computer answering the VPN call may have a dynamic IP address on the internet, which will make it difficult for the computer 'dialing' it to find it. To get round this problem I would suggest a free dynamic DNS service like www.dyndns.org to make the computer locatable by the client PC. You then install a dynamic DNS client on the computer and when it's connected to the internet it updates the DNS record to point to the IP address it has currently. have fun! |
