| 35981 | 2002-02-17 03:18:00 | OK SiS 530 is not compatible with DirectX8.1, its as simple as that. Apparently SiS does not currently intend to make a compatible 530 driver either. So your options, if you have already installed 8.1 and cant run your 3d accelerator is to DL DirectXBuster or reinstall your OS or buy a compatible video card. it's bad.. the solution is.. install the sis530 graphic driver version '1.05', because this driver is not directx certificad. the version 1.08 is not running with directx 8.xx ok? say ya latter.. bye Above are comments posted on a chat site. My problem is I cannot locate the driver version 1.05. All the sites listed in various searches are no longer on line. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance DW |

| 35984 | 2002-02-17 07:11:00 | I was working on a HP6615 (K6-2 550) that had the same problem with dx8 disabling 3d acceleration. I did find these: ftp.gigabyte.com.tw ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/vga/530en150.zip Unfortunatly I don't think you will find it fast enough to play any dx8 games anyway. In halflife at 512x384 I got 8fps hardware, and 10fps software. In Quake3 it got about 4fps. I found the same in other games, software rendering was actually faster. |

And I never looked back. |
