35864 2002-02-16 05:40:00 Go to the start menu and under 'Programs\Startup' and see if the offending program is there. If so go to the start menu/Settings/Taskbar/Start Menu programs and remove it there. If not have a look within the program to see if there is a setting to disable it. Guest (0)
35865 2002-02-16 08:21:00 Hi Mike..

Not sure if Win95 is the same, but try running 'msconfig' from the Run command under your start button. Select the 'StartUp' tab.

You can enable/disable anything/everything that is loaded at startup this way. Avoid disabling anything loaded in the Windows/System folder.

What's really nice is that you can quickly and easily 'enable' them by clicking the shortcut automatically created in a 'Disabled StartUp Items' folder, which you'll find under your Programs menu.

The only thing I've noticed about disabling 'preloaded' stuff, is that it takes a bit longer to load the program when you decide to use it. But it sure beats 'eating memory' with a whole bunch of programs loaded at startup.

Hint: If you have a whole bunch of icons on the right hand side of your task bar, you have ALOT of stuff loaded at startup.
