36374 2002-02-20 03:55:00 I put a password on Win98 & now want to remove it but cannot. Only provision I have found is in Control Panel for 'Changing password'. How do I remove the password protection so I go straight to my desktop on booking up my computer? I did not do the Win98 setup for 'Other user's'. Guest (0)
36375 2002-02-20 04:33:00 Go back to the control panel option for changing password but this time don't put anything in the 'New Password' nor 'Confirm new password' boxes, just leave them blank, then save. Guest (0)
36376 2002-02-20 06:45:00 Go into the Windows folder and delete the .pwl file that corresponds with your username, e.g. if your Windows logon name is KWS then delete the file kws.pwl. Next time you start Windows, you'll be prompted for a logon and password. Just leave the password field blank.
Also, to get to Windows WITHOUT a logon prompt at all, go to Control Panel | Network, and change the 'Primary Network Logon' from 'Client for Microsoft Networks' to 'Windows Logon'
