| 36331 | 2002-02-19 21:41:00 | Ever since I copied my files back to the hard drive from the CD-RW disk after the reformat, all of them have the Read-Only attribute. That is a real pain since I have to change each file's property before opening it if I wish to edit and save the file. Is there a command in DOS which can remove the Read-Only attribute on every file in the My Documents folder in one hit? Running Windows 98. Thank you! |

In case others want to know, I did a search on Google for dos help and from the first site listed I figured out that I needed to open a dos prompt window, change the directory/folder from Windows to Documents (type cd \ then cd docume~1) then type in: attrib -r /s The -r removes the read only attribute, and the /s switch instructs it to do the whole lot in the Documents directory/folder. Done! If somebody wanted to make all folders/files read-only you substitute the -r for a +r. |

Then do a search for *.* and CTRL-A the results. Now right-click on the selected files and change the attributes. This works for all the sub-folders. |

| 36337 | 2005-04-06 23:09:00 | are your files still on the cd? You won't be able to modify them if this is the case....They need to be on the HD. |
