36306 2002-02-19 13:39:00 Hi, using WinME.

Have set a couple of shortcut keys for desktop shortcuts by right-clicking the shortcut, and selecting a shortcut key such as CTRL+ALT+K. This is fine, but the keys don't do anything when depressed. Have checked and double-checked.

They did work once after I changed them and then changed them back, but that was only once.

Cheers for any light on the subject.

In Win 95 (? + others) if the keyboard is set to US International the 2 Alt keys send different codes - the L key is standard Alt and the R is something different. Try comparing the responses to both Alt-Ctrl combinations.

While on the topic of Alt-Ctrl shortcuts they are a boon but how many people know/use them? They will start or restore (from minimised) an app from
desktop or within any running app with one quick press. So, for instance, when you are in the middle of writing a comment for a pressf1 post (with only pf1 running) and you want to insert a link or whatever that is stored in a Word file, you just press eg Alt-Ctrl-W and Word guns up for you to do a quick paste.
Sorry rodentphiles, this one beats it hands down.
