36693 2002-02-22 12:19:00 sometimes when I have had a page lock up on the internet and press Ctrl Alt Delete to release the page, I loose some of the icons on the bottom right hand tray.Is there anyway of getting them back without having to restart the computer.I am operating windows 98SE I usually just keep going without the icons there I have seen this happen on other computers as well. 36694 2002-02-22 12:31:00 hey you,

these are just programs that the computer loads at startup. To get them back you have to reload them. A list of the programs can be found by clicking start>run and typing msconfig and then pressing enter.

Now navigate to the startup tab and there will be a list of all the apps loaded at startup.

Alternatively, hovering the mouse over the icons whilst they are there should tell you something about them. If you don't know what they are, then it probably doesn't matter if they are not there, but if one is your antivirus program or firewall, then I suggest you make sure you reload them just in case.

Hope I haven't confused you further.

36695 2002-02-22 16:04:00 You lose your systray icons because explorer must as well go down with the crashed program.

Instead of reloading them why not figure out a way of fixing the crash problems with the web.

I find that if explorer crashes the best option is too restart as some of the programs may not have been released out of the memory and may still cause you problems.
