| 36654 | 2002-02-22 10:11:00 | Yes. The fastest I've gotten is 53.3kbps. I have not had that speed in a while but I have never had less than 50.6kbps apart from the time the CableTalk technician screwed up my phonelines. |

| 36656 | 2002-02-22 10:51:00 | Hi I am at 53333 now (shows when I hover the mouse over the flashing monitor icons in the system tray). It is usually 53333 or 52000, although I find it better at 52000, as 53333 seems to stall a bit. I have had 31200 a few times (it seems to take forever between 'verifying user name' and 'connected' when I get a slow connection) and generally disconnect and reconnect when that happens. I am with Paradise and never got faster than 48000 with Xtra. J. |

It is in fact possible to get speeds of 400Kb/s and more, theoretically, because of data compression. I notice that a lot when I'm FTP'ing to or from a site, but it's usually only with text data or code, which are easily compressable. | Guest (0) | ||
